Several new things are happening at Trinity. The biggest is that Trinity is relocating to a 12 acre site on the east end of town across from the drive-in theater.
This year the capital campaign raised about $900,000.00!
Construction was to start November 2006 but wetlands were found on the property next to the road. Now we are waiting to see if the Army Corp of Engineers wants to see the land (it is unlikely that this will happen). The city of Dallas has asked for a few minor changes to engineering drawings and they are being revised and should be ready to send back to the city soon.
The steel for the building has been ordered and when the factory is done preparing the items, they will be shipped to us for the beginning of the construction process. The initial work (steel, shipping and installation, roof, insulation, gutter, moldings, engineerin, and assembly) is estimated to cost $425,000. It sounds like a lot, but in just of few weeks after the land is prepared, we will have a covered building on our land!!
GROUND BREAKING!After almost 7-years, we will be having a ground breaking in the first part of January, right after the new year. We will announce a date and time for the official ceremony very soon.
The building will be built in two phases:
Phase one will include a worship area, a large entrance area, classrooms, kitchen, library, and offices.
Phase two will be a gym and more class rooms.
We also hope that this large parcel of land will include some ball fields and a wetland area set aside for people to enjoy.
One of Trinity's hopes is that the building, the gym, the undeveloped area and the ball fields would be used by the community. There is a real lack of gym space in Dallas and Trinity would hope that this gym would help fill the void. Trinity has always opened it's doors for the community to use it's space. In this way we hope to serve Christ by being of service to the community of Dallas.
